You can use it on all sorts of floors actually, and even under deep pile carpets or thick area rugs, thanks to the height settings, the "upright" cleans really well. It removes both dust and pet hair with impressive amonuts, but is a bit loud in comparison, still not unbearable though. You can turn off the brush rolls, which you should on several subtle hard floors such as hardwood or tiles for instance. Thanks to the canister conversion, it can be used to clean stairs or uppers areas as well.

When "converting" into the canister, you'll have to press few buttons and should be able to do it under a minute (pretty easy to do actually). There is a dedicated gripping sections on the handle, only use that portion of the handle while lifting. The nozzle is wide but yet has a little height thus fits under tables, beds with ease as a result. Because of the upholstery tool and the dusting brush, etc you can use it to clean subtle materials + hard to reach places with ease too. After cleaning/washing the filters, make sure to dry them completely before inserting.
Although the 8 + kg is not a big deal when considering its power and usability, still if you're looking for a vac with a little weight, then sometimes it could be a bit of a pain (only if you have to carry it by lifting, often). Anyhow, if you can accept the minor weight issue and the bit louder noises it creates, then the Germ Guardian 2 in 1 GGU300 is an excellent vac that does exactly what it is suppose to do!. A highly recommended product.
