Hardwood Floor Tool/Nozzle, Should I Use One?

Why use a dedicated tool?

Unless your vacuum cleaner is especially designed to use on hardwood floors you should not use it on them without the proper nozzle head attachment. Every floor type is different and have different vulnerabilities of its own. Hardwood in this case is a very subtle type of surface.

Although they have a lot of benefits such as easy to clean and last very very long times (100 + years with ease), etc but still there are two main things that you have to consider before putting your powerful vac on it (pretty sure you know these but just in case...).

1. The cost is high (installation).

2. They're subtle in nature thus can be easily scratched (refinishing/s aren't cheap either).

Not only the installation, even under the best conditions they'll need a refinishing from time to time. But if you're not careful while cleaning it then you'll have to do costly refinishing s quite frequently without a doubt. So if you use a nozzle on your vac which is not designed for that purpose, not only it'll do a unimpressive "job" but can easily damage it by making scratches (especially the power nozzles, that come for deep carpet cleaning with tough fiber brushes for instance.. never use them!).

Apart from the brand name of the vac, in general use a dedicated nozzle for hardwood if you want to avoid wasting your money. You don't always have to buy a one separately since most of the vacs has multi-floor ready nozzle/s (as with the dyson dc35, etc) or include it as a separate tool, in that case make sure to read the manual before purchasing which can usually be accessed via the manufacture web page/s. But a dedicated tool will always work better anyway.

So if you really want to get best out of your vac + doing the minimal damage to the hardwood floor then yes you should consider a dedicated nozzle.

My pick for Dyson vacs!

If you have a Dyson vacuum then the hard floor tool (product number - 906562-1) is a nozzle attachment which is durably built which suits all Dyson upright and canister models. It is made out to be used on delicate wood surfaces, so if you want to clean them better without having to be afraid of scratches them this is the one to go.

Buy directly from Amazon!

It has long gentle bristles and some even say you can use it on carpets but I wouldn't recommend it. Because of the bristles and the suctions it'll hold the dust that collects and will remove pet hair (in decent amounts) from the surfaces as well. It has a swivel head which makes cleaning edges easy because of the smoother rotations.

It is a hard-floor tool meaning that you can use it on tiles or ceramics too apart from the wood surfaces. So don't have a lot to say about it actually. Think that's pretty much everything.
