Although a self-propelled upright vac usually outperforms canister on deep-pile carpets but with a canister that has a power nozzle such as with this "Tangerine", can clean carpets as through as an upright nonetheless. The power nozzle reaches deep down into the carpets and from larger debris such as food spills, etc to subtle (but hard to get rid of) pet hair/dust... this canister does an excellent job!. So if you have lots of carpets... then this is really a powerful  light-weight vac, built exactly for that purpose.

The beater/power-nozzle must be turned off while on hard floors (especially stretchable surfaces such as hardwood for instance). It vacuums the bare floors such as tiles, wood, ceramics really well too. It's not a heavy weight vac, so easy to carry around as well. But as mentioned earlier... the power cord is a bit short. When considering the power, then noise levels are also impressively quite!, which is something very hard to see in a vac these days.

The headlight which is handy while vacuuming darker areas such as under beds for instance. Other places such as upholstery can also be cleaned with the provided upholstery/dusting brush attachment. The swivel features of the nozzle makes it is easy to "navigate" around furniture as well.

So, if you're looking for a powerful canister that gives excellent results on carpets and bare floors (tiles, vinyl and laminate especially) but willing bear the somewhat shorter wire length, then the Tangerine Kenmore is an impressively quite canister vac without a doubt.
