Although you can use it on hardwood, rugs,hard floors, ceramics as well but the best results will be achieved on medium and high pile carpets since it is specifically made out to perform on them. It has three smoother wheels on the canister which enhance the movements which is a must on carpets (or anything that is dense in that case).

The nozzle head has the swivel feature. This makes things such as rotations for instance easier which helps to "navigate" around furniture and clean around corners with ease. Although it has very useful tools there is no place to store them on board, this is actually not a big concern by any means but would have been useful if was there. Like the S4212 Neptune the Titan is also very quiet for the power it delivers.
If you have a lot of different types of floors/materials to clean then this might not be the ideal solution since you'll have to change the nozzle/s quite often when switching to another floor but if you have a lot of medium and high pile carpets and want to clean them with really good looking results and can cope with the weight (although it is not that high in comparison) and the price, then the Miele Titan S4180 is one of the best products you can find, honestly as they've proven over the years... if you choose intelligently Miele won't disappoint you!.
