Although as mentioned before this is especially made out to be used on hardwood, but you can use it on rugs, carpets as well. The vacuum suctions are excellent. And things like spots, spills and other types of stains can be removed thanks to the steam. Although it has a reasonably large tank but still takes about 25-30 seconds to heat up!. It does not come with any chemicals and won't be needing any either.

And few tips for using on hardwood - old or new hardwood, it doesn't matter, to get the best results first vacuum the surface thoroughly and then follow it with the steam. Although on rugs and carpets the drying up times could be a bit higher but on wood, hardwood they will be dried out within few minutes which is quite impressive. But one shortcoming is that if you want the highest temperatures all the time while using then you'll have to stop from time to time until the pressures are build up.

Anyway, for a very reasonable price if you want both vacuum and steam embedded product which is not a heavy duty one but still more than able to help you with every day floor cleaning jobs, then the - shark vac then steam mop can be highly recommended.
