You can use the Clean & Light on both carpets and bare floors and even though without the self-propel feature, it is pretty easy to use on carpets. The bristles takes care of corners and edges which is one of the hardest to clean sometimes. Both pulling and pushing is a breeze and it fits easily under most of the narrow objects because of the nozzle width and the height. The headlight makes it easy to see some of that dust which "hides" away in places like under beds for instance. While cleaning larger rooms and stairs, the 35ft long wire cord was pretty handy and is something (the length) that you should always consider before buying a vac.

There are no height adjustments available, so cannot be recommended to be used on deep-pile carpets for instance. As said, one of the best things about this vacuum is the impressively powerful suction. And as a result, don't try to point it toward subtle things such as curtains or mats otherwise it'll wear them off!. Although I did miss the tools (there are none) but this is mainly a carpet and bare floors cleaner which suits for cleaning larger open floors (except the excellent nozzle which let's you "sneak" into tight places).

Anyway, if you want a powerful vac that is easy to use and easily carry-able which has a cheaper price tag, then the Hoover Clean & Light UH4707-900 is a great product that can be highly recommended for you!.
