If you're looking for a canister vac that is easy to use, very powerful (commercial), suits for both carpets and bare floors then you should consider the Sanitaire SC3683. Because of the default nozzle attachment, it is not recommended for deep-pile carpets/rugs but if you have low-pile carpets, hard and bare floors (I mean a lot of them) then this is one of the best!.

As mentioned, for a canister it feels so light and since it comes with a shoulder strap, carrying it around is a breeze too. The SC3683 does an amazing job on both low-pile carpets and rugs by removing both dust/pet hair, but unless you purchase a power-nozzle attachment, it is not recommended for the deep-pile carpets. The results are basically same with the bare floors such as wood and tiles for instance.

The wheels look small but they are smooth. So, when combined with the low weight, it is one of the easiest to use as well. Not only on floors but with the help of the attachments, you can clean upper areas and furniture too. The bag is pretty easy to empty, if you have allergies to dust, then bagged vacs are usually the best choice. The noises levels are slightly higher than some of the other similar products but again, not a big issue.

So if you want a light-weight easy to use canister vac that comes with a reasonable price but can cope with the bit shorter wire cord length, then the Sanitaire SC3683 is a great product that can be highly recommend for anyone with above mentioned needs!.
