How To Get Rid Of Stains and Spots on Carpets

Well, unlike in many other floors, a single spill of food or any other liquid can spoil your carpets. Because of their absorbing nature when something spills on them, you'd better hurry up!. So, whenever you come up with those situations try to keep the following tips in mind which should help to prevent them from going any further.

*. Take quick actions  -

Now the newer carpets have a stain resistant coat applied to them. So if you can clean them as quickly as possible most of the time those stains can be removed with ease.

*. Scrubbing is not a good idea -

If done roughly this can hurt the carpet surface (piles, etc). So don't scrub it at all, instead try to use a paper towel, absorbent cloth, etc and rub it gently on the spots. For semi solids you can use a rounded spoon and then vacuum it until it is completely removed.

*. If you have any spot removing chemical products then first apply it on a smaller testing area on the carpet to test whether it can damage it by removing the colors, fibers, etc. After dropping few drops then hold a clean white cloth for about 10-15 seconds. The purpose is to see if it make the carpet "leak" colors. If nothing happens then you're good to go.

*. Start with the edges of the spilled area rather than with the center to avoid any spreads. Again do not scrub.

*. Use the chemical as much as needed to get rid of the stain and after done, rinse it with cold water and again use a dry clean cloth to absorb the water.

*. Some cleaning solutions, if not completely rinsed out can cause a rapid soiling, so make sure to use white paper towels (1.5 inch think for instance) on the surface and put something heavy to absorb all that chemical left-overs, and if you have a vacuum cleaner then vacuum it thoroughly.
